Poole Harbour Canoe Club is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation -  Registration # 1152531

PHCC takes great pride in the work it does with Junior (8-18 yrs) members of the club and is constantly looking for ways to improve their experience with us and to broaden the range of opportunities they are given.  The juniors have a full program of events including river running, K1 training (and competitions) and surfing.

As well as the Junior Sessions on Tuesdays at Lake Pier the juniors have their own program of events most weekends throughout the year, including race meetings -

and in the winter separate sessions at the Ferndown Leisure Centre pool prior to the Adult members’ rolling and practice sessions.

Junior Specific Paddling

At present this falls into 3 main groups -

There is a also a general ‘non specific’ group as well.

Paddlepower Skills Programme (8-16yrs)         see page

This group meets on Tuesday evenings 6.30pm – 8pm during British Summer Time at our Lake Pier site (mostly) and on Wednesday evenings 7.30pm – 8.15pm at Ferndown Leisure Centre Pool during British Winter Time. (GMT / UTC)

Junior Kayak Polo (11-18yrs)                             see page

Whilst as a club we have always thrown a ball around with the junior members we have just recently begun dedicating a monthly session to playing kayak polo.

Polo is a fast growing sport in the UK and one of the main sport disciplines

of the paddling community.    As a group we are slowly learning the various rules of the game,  developing strategies of play and are leading up to putting a squad together  -  with the intention of competing with other local clubs.

Flatwater Racing                                                      see page

Operating from our second base at Riverside, Wimborne, we have a very active community of paddlers focused primarily on the discipline of flatwater racing.    Adult and Junior members train every Saturday morning in racing boats and often attend competitions together at other clubs and locations.

Non-Junior Specific Paddling Opportunities       see page

Within the clubs regular activities there are plenty of other opportunities for Juniors to paddle and develop their skills.
